Community
Community engagement is an integral part of my practice as both a researcher and a citizen. I believe strongly in the value of listening to, learning from, and working with community partners to build a healthier society.
I am currently a Board Member of the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE), as well as a Member of the Council of National Fellows for Excellence in Teaching and Learning within the STLHE. I am also the Coordinator of the 3M National Student Fellowship.
Previously, I was a Board Member of the Guelph Y (now the YMCA of Three Rivers) and have volunteered with a number of other organizations in the Guelph area, including the Canadian Red Cross and the Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington. I also have experience partnering with community organizations in Hamilton to conduct research on topics related to education and health.
I am particularly interested in supporting community organizations with missions related to education, equity, and/or community health and well-being. Time-permitting, ways that I may be able to help include:
Assisting with activities or events that fall within my interests and expertise;
Offering pro-bono or reduced-rate research support;
Serving as an adjudicator for community awards and/or grants;
Serving as a Board Member.
