About Me
I am the Director, Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) at George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In this inaugural role, I lead the College’s SoTL strategy, support faculty development, and oversee funding and dissemination efforts for SoTL. My vision is to build a vibrant community of excellence in teaching and learning scholarship where SoTL is a core part of how we approach education at George Brown.
Previously, I served as a full-time Assistant Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences and Surgery at McMaster University, and as an Education Scientist with St. Joseph’s Education & Research Centre (SERC) in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Currently, I maintain a part-time faculty appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University and am an Adjunct Scientist with the McMaster Education Research, Innovation and Theory (MERIT) Centre.
My research focuses on using education to address pressing health challenges using both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, with particular emphasis on understanding and improving equity and well-being in our health systems. I also explore competency-based medical education, including assessment, learner-centred pedagogies, and SoTL.
